Gladiolus watsonius, Thunb. (Antholyza revoluta, Burm.). Corm 1 in. diam., globose: st. slender, 18 in. or less, with 1 long, narrow-linear and stiff If. and 2-3 short sheathing lvs.: fls. 2-4, in a lax 1-sided spike, 2 in. or less long, bright red, the wide-spreading segms. oblong and acute, the lower ones smaller and lanceolate-falcate; stamens very short. S. Afr. B.M. 450.—Little known in this country, but offered by Dutch growers.
