Hamamelis mollis, Oliver. Shrub or small tree, to 30 ft.: lvs. orbicular-obovate or obovate-oblong, cuspidate, obliquely cordate at the base, dentate, somewhat rough above, grayish white below, 4-5 in. long: calyx purplish red inside, petals golden yellow, %in. long; ovary nearly one-half superior. Jan.-March. Cent. China. B.M. 7884. G.C. III. 52:488. Gn. 75, p. 20. H.I. 18:1742. Alfred Rehder.
