Limonium gmelinii, Kuntze (Statice Gmelinii, Willd.). Perennial, 1 1/2 - 2 ft. high: lvs. glabrous, green, broad-ovate or obovate, 1-nerved, very obtuse, very short-petioled or subsessile: scape tall, terete below, somewhat angled above, corymbose-panicled; spikelets rather 2-fld., densely imbricated in short secund subscorpioid spikes: calyx-tube pilose on all or some of the ribs, limb small, dark purplish blue, lobes rotundate; corolla rose. July-Sept. Caucasus and Siberia. CH
