Lupinus nootkatensis, Donn. St. hairy, decumbent, with long, spreading hairs, 2-3 ft. high: 1fts. 5-9, narrowly obovate-oblong, smooth above, hairy below, mucronate; stipules lanceolate, nearly as long as the lfts.: fls. in dense racemes, blue, variegated with red and yellow, with large veins, variable. May-July. Nootka Sound. B.M. 1311; 2136.—Coarse stocky species, said to be unsuitable for small gardens, but of merit.
