Rhus michauxii, Sarg. (R. pumila, Michx. Schmaltzia Michauxii, Small). Low shrub with decumbent sts. about 1 ft. high, densely pubescent: lfts. 9-15, oval to oblong-ovate, acuminate, coarsely serrate, 2-4 in. long: fls. greenish, in panicles 4-8 in. long: fr. compressed, deep red, pubescent. Spring. N. C. to Ga. G.F. 8:405. Poisonous.
