Oenothera californica, Wats. (OE. albicaulis var. californica, Wats.). Smaller and hoary-pubescent or villous, the sts. only 3 or 4 in. long, ascending from a rootstock: lvs. narrow-oblanceolate and acuminate, usually stalked, toothed or pinnatifid: fls. often larger, fragrant, the petals lobed. Cent. and S. Calif.
