Schlumbergera gaertneri, Brit. & Rose (Epiphyllum Gaertneri, Schum. E. Russellianum var. Gaertneri, Reg.). Easter Cactus. Sts. of more upright habit, with drooping branches: joints long-oblong or elliptical to obovate, 5/8- 2 1/4 in. long by 1/2- 1 in. broad, dark green, margins crenate, with about 5 areoles on either side, bearing 6-12 rather stiff, long, yellow or brown bristles, which are especially conspicuous on the truncated apex, where they form a considerable beard: fls. from the apex of the youngest joints, 2 1/2- 3 in. long, scarlet-red: fr. red.
