Ipomoea bonariensis, Hook. (I. ficifolia, Lindl. I. perringiana, Damm. I. sellowii, Penny). St. branching, tinged with purple and covered with short stellate hairs: lvs. deeply cordate. 3-5-lobed, the middle lobe longest: peduncles several-fld., longer than the petioles; fls. 1 ½ - 2 in. wide, violet to lilac, the limb spreading into 5 crenate lobes. Aug.-Oct. Trop. Amer. and Afr. B.M. 3665. B.R. 27:13. P.M. 9:25. Gt. 47:1446.—Here belongs I. sellowii, Penny, and probably Hort., not I. selloi, Mart., which is a distinct species.
