'''''Moenchia''''' is a [[genus]] of [[plants]] in the family [[Caryophyllaceae]] with three [[species]] [[native]] to the [[Mediterranean Basin|Mediterranean region]] of [[southern Europe]] and naturalised in [[southern Africa]] and parts of [[North America]] and [[Australia]]. They are herbs, with an [[annual plant|annual life span]]. They have slender [[root]]s and thin [[Plant stem|stem]]s that are upright or ascending. [[Inflorescence]]s are one- to three-flowered and terminally end the [[Plant stem|stem]]s. The flowers are in spreading [[cyme]]s or solitary, with [[bract]]s paired that are leaf like. Named for [[Conrad Moench]]. Common names for the plants in this genus include ''upright chickweed''.
