Vitis pulchra, Rehd. Described as a handsome plant with simple more or less obscurely 3-lobed lvs. coarsely serrate, 7-8 in. long and 9-10 in. broad, much like those of V. Coignetiae, villous beneath, the young shoots crimson, the foliage becoming glossy bronze-green and purplish beneath and later deep green. Sts. sparsely floccose, glabrescent, purplish: lvs. ovate to broad-ovate, acuminate, the base shallow cordate or truncate (only rarely deeply cordate), coarsely and unequally toothed, glabrous and somewhat shining above. China or Japan.—Described from plants cult. at the Arnold Arboretum, where it is not quite hardy.
