Crataegus saligna, Greene. (After No. 37.) Tree, to 20 ft., with spreading or drooping branches, spiny; branchlets bright red, glabrous: lvs. rhombic-elliptic to rhombic- lanceolate, acute or sometimes rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, slightly hairy and dark green above, paler green and glabrous beneath, 1 3/4 - 2 in. long: corymbs glabrous: fls. 2/3 in. across; stamens 20, anthers yellow: fr. globose, blue-black, 1/3 in. across, with 3-5 nutlets. Colo. S.M. 491. B.B. 482.
