Shrub with slender weak sts., usually densely bristly; prickles slender, often clustered: lvs. nearly orbicular, cordate, deeply 3-7-lobed, with acutish, incisely dentate lobes, glabrous or nearly so, 1 1/3-2 in. across: racemes spreading or drooping, 10-15-fld.; fls. greenish or purplish; calyx-tube saucer-shaped; sepals spreading, broad and short; stamens very short: fr. subglobose, purple-black, with gland-tipped bristles.
