Lvs. elliptic-orbicular, rather broadly peltate; margin irregularly repand-dentate; lobes scarcely produced; green above, deep blue-violet beneath: fl. 3-7 in. across, pale blue (rarely pink or white), open 3 days from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M.; buds ovate; sepals with minute blackish dots; petals 11-14, dull white at base; stamens 33-54; appendage blue; anthers and filaments pale yellowish, and E.
