Oenothera brachycarpa, Gray (Lavauxia brachycarpa, Brit.). Perennial, densely pubescent: Lvs. thickish, ovate to very narrow-lanceolate, about 6 in. long, long-stalked, entire or notched or lyrately pinnatifid j calyx-tube 2-3 in. long; petals about1½ in. long, purplish: caps, ovate, often 1 in. long, the wings not wrinkled. Mont, to Kans., west and south.
