Tephrosia virginiana, Pers. (Cracca virginiana, Linn.). Goat's Rue. Catgut. Wild Sweet Pea. Hoary Pea. Silky-villous: st. erect, simple, 1-2 ft. high, leafy to the top: lfts. 17-29, linear-oblong: fls. large and numerous, clustered in a terminal, ellipsoid, dense raceme or panicle, yellowish white marked with purple. June, July. Dry sandy soil, southern N. H. to Minn. and southward. CH
