Zelkova davidii, Hemsl. (Z. Davidiana, Franch. Hemiptelea Davidii, Planch.). Shrubby tree, the branches with axillary spines 1/2 - 4 in. long: lvs. oval to elliptic or elliptic- oblong, acute, sub-cordate at the base, with 8-12 pairs of veins on each side, at first with scattered hairs above, each leaving a dark circular depression, and with few scattered hairs on the veins beneath, finally glabrous, 3/4 – 2 in. long: fr. conical, 2-edged, 1/4 in. long, short-stalked.
