Leptotaenia (narrow vittae or oil-tubes). Umbelliferae.  Several N. American tall perennial herbs, allied to Ferula and Angelica: glabrous: roots thick and fusiform: leaves pinnately compound: flowers yellow or purple, in compound umbels, the involucre and involucels none or of few bracts: fruits oblong or nearly orbicular, much compressed. Two species were once listed, but probably none is in cultured. Manuals of the plants of the Rocky Mt. region and west contain descriptions of the species.
