Fagelia (after Caspar Fagelius, plant cultivator). Syn. Bolusafra, Kuntze. Leguminosae. One species, a fast- growing, twining sub-shrub from S. Afr., covered with clammy hairs, and bearing all summer axillary racemes of pea-like fls. which are yellow, the keel tipped violet; standard reflexed;keel obtuse, exceeding the wings; stamens diadelphous: pod about 6-seeded, turgid. Cult. outdoors in S. Calif. and abroad under glass. The plant is allied to Cajanus, but its seeds are strophioled, pod swollen, not flattened, and the 2 upper calyx-lobes nearly distinct. The Fagelia of Schwenke (1774) is Calceolaria. CH
