Sempervivum funckii, F. Braun; also spelled Funkii. Barren rosettes 1 1/2 - 2 in. diam. surrounded by a dense circle of young ones on bright red decumbent peduncles, which are 1 in. or more long and densely rosulate at their tip: lvs. 80-100 to a rosette, oblanceolate-cuneate, cuspidate, green and glabrous or slightly pilose when young, outer lvs. 1/2 – 3/4 x 1/4 in., lower cauline lvs. about 1 in. long: fl.-st. including infl. 6-9 in. high, densely pilose: fls. 11-12-merous, about 1 in. across, bright red-purple, in a panicle 2-3 in. diam.; calyx-segms. lanceolate; petals glandular-pubescent outside. S. Eu.—Allied to S. montanum. CH
