Adenostyles albifrons, Reichb. A much-branched, hairy perennial, 2-3 ft.: lvs. on the lower surface cottony, bright green above, almost round and deeply cordate; basal lvs. long-stalked; the stalks eared: heads 15-20-fld., purple, rather attractively paniculate or corymbose. Woody mts., S. Eu. July, Aug. A. alpina. Bluff. & Fingeruth. A lower, smooth perennial, with the beads 3-6-fld.; is scarcely known in Amer. It is not so showy as A. albifrons. S. Eu. N. Taylor. CH
