Sophora affinis, Torr. & Gray. Small round-headed tree, with slender branches, to 20 ft.: lfts. 13-19, elliptic, obtusish or emarginate, broadly cuneate at the base, glabrous or with scattered hairs below, conspicuously veined, 1-1 1/2 in. long: fls. 1/2 in. long, white tinged with rose, with the lvs. in axillary nodding racemes 3-5 in. long: pod terete, moniliform, more or less pubescent, 1/2 – 3 in. long, black.
