Lilium Henryi, Baker. Bulb similar to that of L. speciosum, but often larger, deep reddish purple: st. smooth, 4-8 ft. high, deep green, heavily tinged and spotted purplish brown: leaves 60-100, horizontal, 3-6 in. long, 3/4 - 1 1/2 in. wide, upper ones shorter and recurved: flowers 1-20, 3-4 in. diam., inodorous, bright orange-yellow, slightly spotted reddish brown and with a green band at the base of each segm.; anthers orange-red. —One of the very best of all lilies for general cultured, hardy, robust, long-lived and easily grown in almost any soil and situation. Sometimes called the yellow L. speciosum; although it resembles that species in bulb and form of flowers, it is entirely distinct in habit of growth. CH
