Lvs. up to 1 ft. long and 2 in. broad: racemes equaling or longer than the lvs.; fls. over 1 1/2 in. long, fragrant; sepals and petals white, amethyst-tipped; lip deeply 3-lobed, the denticulate lateral lobes hatchet-shaped, white, the middle lobe oblong, amethyst, the spur green, incurved. Philippine Isls. Var. Amesianum, Kranzl. A more robust plant, with fls. of a more intense color. Var. Sanderianum, Hort.
