Aerides multiflorum, Roxbg. (A. affine, Wall. A. roseum, Paxt.). Lvs. up to 10 in. long, less than 1 in. broad: racemes longer than the lvs.; fls. about 3/4in. long; basal portion of the oval-oblong petals and dorsal sepal white, with a few purple spots, the remainder light amethyst, the nearly orbicular lateral sepals white, faintly flushed; lip light amethyst, deeper in the middle, cordate, obtuse; spur straight, short. Var. Lobbii, Veitch (A. Lobbii, Hort.). Differs from the type in its much-crowded lvs., and in the fls. which are more numerous and more highly colored. Var. Godefroyanum, Veitch (A. Godefroyanum, Reichb. f.). Lvs. longer: fls. a little larger and more highly colored than in the type. CH
