Fritillaria tulipifolia, Bieb. Height 2-8 in.: st. 1-fld.: lvs. 3-4, elliptic, concave, nerveless, 1 ½ - 2 ½ in. long: fls. solitary, inside rusty brown-purple, not checkered, outside dark glaucous-blue, streaked with the same purple. Caucasus. B.M. 5909.—One of the choicest and daintiest kinds. Very distinct. Foliage glaucous blue: fls. resembling a tulip in shape, and with a chalky look outside.
