Grindelia squarrosa, Dunal. Shrubby, smooth, branched from base, 1-2 ft. high: Ivs. dark or bluish green with clasping bases: fl.-heads sticky: outer achenes usually squarely truncate and even at summit. Manitoba to Mex. B.M. 1706 (as Donia squarrosa). Mn. 10:145.
