Zinnia pauciflora, Linn. An erect annual: lvs. lanceolate to oblong-ovate, usually rough: heads yellow, about 1 in. across, with rather broad, spreading, red, purple or mostly yellow rays in cult. specimens: plant hirsute, with spreading hairs: somewhat corymbosely branched above: peduncles at maturity enlarged upward and hollow. Grows quickly, bearing flowers with up to 1 in (2.5cm) yellow or orange ray florets (up to 15 in all), surrounding a yellow or black-purple disc. Blooms come on stems above the leaves. Narrow leaves are bright green and lance-shaped leaves, growing almost 3 in (8 cm) long.
