Mammillaria fasciculata, Engelm. (M. Thornberi, Orcutt). Plants sometimes growing in large clusters often containing many plants (as many as 110 have been noted): sts. cylindrical, usually 2-4 in. high but sometimes as much as 1 ft. high: radial spines 13-18, white, with dark tips: fls. broadly funnel-shaped, purplish; petals broad- acute. Ariz.—This species, although collected in 1848, has been poorly represented in our collections and unfortunately has recently been re-named. It is a very beautiful species.
