Upright stoloniferous shrub, 1-4 ft. high, forming patches: Lvs. oval, rarely oval-oblong or orbicular, rounded at the base or rarely subcordate, 1-2 in. long, finely serrate, usually quite or nearly entire on the lower third, glabrous above, densely white-tomentose beneath when young: racemes short, dense, upright, tomentose or nearly glabrous; fls. small; petals obovate-oblong, about ⅓ in. longj top of ovary woolly: fr. purplish black, bloomy, juicy and sweet.
