The long slender stems can get to 2.5cm thick and will reach anywhere between 1.2m and 2m in length. During early spring, bright-pink, tubular flowers around 5cm in length are formed on the stems. These flowers will last for a few days.

==Cultivation==
The plant should be planted in loamy soil and always kept moist, even during the winter. During summer months it should be watered generously.

As the steams become too long, they can be clipped off and left to dry for a couple of days. They can then be potted up. It is best to root cuttings during early summer.
