Brazil.—This is an exceedingly variable species. An endless number of garden forms has been produced from it. A very popular bedding begonia, and a persistent bloomer. Var. Vernon (atropurpurea compacta, Gt. 44, p. 570) is one of the best forms. Triomphe de Lorraine is one of the good bedding kinds. Fls. cherry-red, the stamens golden yellow. Gloire de Chatelaine is a form of dwarf habit and deep rose fls.; one of- the best in England for bedding and pots, and a continuous bloomer. |
