Bullace. A name used in England for half-wild, half-domesticated plums very similar in character to the Damsons. In America there exist no plums for which another name can not be preferred. The bullace, or bullaces (for there are several varieties sometimes spoken of as bullaces) are usually referred to the botanical name of Prunus insilitia (e.g., Hedrick, Plums of New York, p. 40); but they are also classlfied with the Damsons, thus taking the botanical name of Prunus domestica var. danws- cena (See Bot. Gaz. 27:481.)
