Mounding perennial or subshrub. Found across temperate parts of N Hemisphere. Grassy, deep green leaves. Leaves 4in (10cm) ling. Flower stems 12in (30cm) long/1in (25mm) wide. Flowers white, pink or red.

Blooms almost all year on Pacific coast.

Easily cultivated, especially at home in rockeries. Moist well drained soil.

  • Armeria maritima ssp. californica - mounds to 6 in (15cm). Flowers lavender-pink. Flower stems shorter.
  • Armeria maritima "Corsica" - dense clumping habit. Brick red flowers come on small heads.
  • Armeria maritima "Isobel Burdett" - flowerheads deep pink. flowerstems 8in (20cm)
  • Armeria maritima "Launcheana"
