Shrub, to 6 ft.: branches reddish brown; branchlets rough with stellate pubescence: lvs. ovate, rarely broadly ovate, acute or acuminate, remotely dentate with broad shallow teeth, or crenately dentate, glabrous or slightly pubescent above, stellate-pubescent beneath, 1 1/2 - 4 in. long: cymes rather densely stellate- pubescent: fr. globose-ovoid, 1/3 in. long, bluish black.
