Lvs. ensiform, 1 1/2 ft. long, 1 1/2 in. wide: scape longer than the lvs., bearing 5-6 fls. each nearly 3 in. across: sepals and petals oblong, acute, green with large, confluent blotches of brown: labellum rotund, narrowed at the base, deeply 2-lobed in front, pubescent, bluish white with radiating broken lines of purplish blue; column green and white. Zygopetalum intermedium, Lodd. Quite similar to Zygopetalum mackayi. Petals and sepals are fleshy. Heavily dappled with dark maroon-purple. Fan-shaped labellum. Labellum white with dark lilac streaking. Up to 6 blooms. Blooms are 3in (8cm) wide. Blooms on thick upright spikes.
