Milium (ancient Latin name of broom-corn millet which, however, belongs to a different genus). Gramineae. Millet-grass. Spikelets 1-fld., in diffuse panicles: glumes awnless, the lemma and palea coriaceous, as in Panicum.—Contains 5 or 6 species distributed through Temp. Eu. and Asia, one of which, M. effusum, also found in N. Amer., is occasionally cult.for ornament.
