Gladiolus italicus (Gladiolus segetum, Ker.). Differs from G. byzantinus in having globular (not winged) seeds, and in the flaring or spreading segms. of the bright purple, obovate- obtuse sepals. Canaries and Medit. region. —Hardy and early; little grown. CH
