Sophronitis grandiflora, Lindl. (S. coccinea, Reichb. f.). Pseudobulbs clustered: lvs. about 2 in. long, elliptic: fls. solitary, on short peduncles, 1 1/2 - 4 in. across, brilliant scarlet, often with a shade of orange, with an orange labellum; sepals oblong-lanceolate; petals broadly elliptic; labellum narrow, with folded sides.
