Primula amcena, Bieb. Lvs. submembranaceous, somewhat roughened or thin, narrowed to the petiole or abruptly and longer petioled, in which case the base is cordate or subcordate, sometimes minutely denticulate or subentire, sometimes decidedly coarse-crenate, ashy tomentose or glabrous below; the petiole equaling the blade: scape 1-5 in. high, exceeding the lvs., bearing a many-fld. umbel: bracts short-lanceolate, acuminate; fls. purple or lilac, rarely white; calyx narrowly tubulate, with lanceolate acuminate lobes; corolla-tube cylindrical, the limb flat, 3/4 - 1 1/4 across, with obcordate emarginate lobes: caps, cylindrical, equaling or exceeding the calyx.
