Hoffmannia refulgens, Hemsl. Much like the former, but twice or more as large, the lvs. sessile and almost succulent, narrow-obovate, with many parallel veins running from the midrib to the margin, the under-surface pale red or wine-color and the upper surface dull green, with iridescent shades of purple and brown: fls. 1 in. across, pale red. Mex. B.M\ 5346 (as Higginsia refulgens). H.F. II. 5:78.—A most beautiful plant.
