Randia thurberi, Wats. Papachi. An upright shrub, 6-8 ft, high, armed with slender spines, young branches canescent: lvs. obovate, attenuate to the short, winged petiole, obtuse or retuse: fr. globose or ellipsoidal, axillary, sessile or nearly so; seeds about 20, in black pulp. Lower Calif, and Sonora, Mex.—Intro, into Calif. The fr. is eaten by the Indians.
