Begonia magnifica, Lind. Fig. 516. Sub-frutescent. smooth and shining, the sts. creeping: Lvs. large and bold, sometimes rising 2 ft., obliquely ovate-cordate, entire or obscurely lobed, serrate, slightly peltate, bright green, the margins ciliate: fls. long and fuchsia- like, numerous, the sts.. bracts, fls. and hairs of the clusters all scarlet-red, showy. Colombia. R.H. 1870: 270.—One of the best of the rhizomatous begonias. Lf.-blades often 2 ft. across.
