Leucojum autumnale, Linn. (Ads aulumnalis, Salisb.). AuTumn Snowflake. Bulb globose, 1/2 in. diam.: leaves thread-like, usually produced after the flowers: scape very slender, 3-9 in. long, 1-3-fld.; perianth-segms. white, tinged with red; stamens half as long as segms. Portugal and Morocco to Ionian Isls. —Not satisfactory in northern gardens. Prefers a sandy soil. CH
