Tulipa kaufmanniana, Regel. Less than 12 in. high: lvs. 2-3; perianth subcampanulate, 2-3 in. long, 2 1/2- 4 in. across, bright yellow in original form, tinged with red outside, without basal blotch; in cult. very variable in color, often cream-white, and nearly always with a deep yellow basal blotch; anthers lemon-yellow, linear; filaments bright orange, linear flattened; ovary pyramidal; stigmas small in cult. form, but described as large.
