Vaccinium nitidum, Andr. A diffusely much-branched shrub, 1/2 - 2 ft. high, with smooth or rarely pubescent branchlets: lvs. thick, coriaceous, shining, 1/4 – 3/4 in. long, elliptic-oblong or obovate, acute or apiculate, serrulate, often with glandular teeth, nearly sessile, glabrous: racemes umbel-like: sepals and bracts rounded, obtuse; corolla small, 1/8 – 1/4 in. long, short-campanulate-cylindrical, 5-toothed, rose-color or whitish: berry small, black.
