Rosa californica, Cham. & Schlecht. Sts. 8 ft. high, with stout, hooked or straight prickles, often bristly: lfts. 5-7, broadly elliptic to oblong-obovate, simply or doubly glandular-serrate, pubescent beneath or on both sides, often glandular, 1/2-1 1/2 in. long: fls. on slender, usually smooth pedicels, over 1 in. across, few or several in dense corymbs, pink: fr. globose-ovate, usually with a prominent neck. June-Aug. Brit. Col. to Calif. W.R. 72 (a semi-double form).
