Betula potaninii, Batal. (B. Wilsonii. Bean). (After No. 7.) Shrub, to 10 ft., usually with spreading and prostrate branches, in its native habitat often hanging down over cliffs: branchlets densely brownish pubescent: lvs. short-petioled, ovate, acute, rounded or cuneate at base, irregularly, often doubly serrate, with 13-20 pairs of veins, dark green above, densely brownish pubescent beneath, 3/4 – 1 3/4 in. long: cones 3/4 in. long: scales with the middle lobe at least twice as long as the rounded lateral lobes. W. China.
