Clematis orientalis, Linn. (C. graveolens, Lindl.). A rapid climber, reaching 12-15 ft.: lvs. thin, glaucous and shiny, pinnate; lfts. 3-parted or-lobed, with small, ovate or oblong-ovate, entire or cut-toothed divisions ½-1½ in. long: fls. in few-fld. cymes, sometimes solitary, becoming erect or nearly so, 1½ in. across; sepals 4, yellow, tinted with green, pubescent on both sides, spreading, somewhat reflexed; styles plumose.
