Pavonia spinifex, Willd. Shrub, to 20 ft., from S. Amer., the st. slender, branches few and virgate: lvs. ovate, cordate, crenate sometimes angled, pubescent on both surfaces: fls. large, yellow, not fragrant, the corolla open; petals obovate; calyx-lobes lanceolate: bracteoles 5 or more, linear, hairy on margin: caps, with 3 spines.
