Hydrocotyle vulgaris, also known as Marsh Pennywort, is a small creeping perennial herb native to N. Africa, Europe and east to the Caspian region; in Britain it is the only native Hydrocotyle.

Hydrocotyle vulgaris, Linn., offered abroad: creeping or floating, rooting at the nodes: lvs. orbicular, 1 in. or less across, crenate or slightly lobed, centrally attached, the petioles surpassing the peduncles: fls. minute, white, in 2 or 3 whorls or in a single umbel: marshes and bogs, and edges of ponds.
